The Importance Of communication

Is communication the key to progress in the work-place? If you asked my Granddad that he might say something like “Is the Pope religious?” My Granddad worked for a large firm where communication was absolutely paramount. Granted, most of it was about the football and what happened to who on Friday night and why they got in to that state because they really should have known after the last three times, but a fair bit of it was also about everyone communicating to make sure the company made advancements and stayed running smoothly. It doesn’t matter what kind of business you are running, if you don’t have good communication then you may as well forget it because it’s not going to work. The link you’ll come to in several seconds from enigin PLC is all about how crucial communication is. It even provides evidence that’s pretty much irrefutable: http://www.eniginpartners.com/2010/04/15/technology-communication-and-progress/ Who knows how large companies were run before we had good communication? It must have been tediously hard and a constant uphill battle. Take the humble radio, for example. Yes it crackles and yes you need to remember to say “over” all the time, which can become a chore, but it also allows a person at one side of the building site to chat to the bloke at the other. Can you imagine how much longer everything would take if just one faction of communication was removed? Not to mention how difficult it would be for companies with multiple offices in numerous countries. Communication really is vital!
